Reportage Wedding Photography

Wedding

What is reportage wedding photography?

Reportage wedding photography, also known as documentary or photojournalistic wedding photography, is a style of wedding photography that focuses on capturing candid, spontaneous moments throughout the wedding day. The photographer aims to tell the story of the wedding through their images, without posing or staging shots.

Reportage wedding photography is a popular choice for couples who want their wedding photographs to feel natural and authentic, and who want to capture the emotions and atmosphere of the wedding day.

This kind of wedding photography requires a skilled and experienced photographer who can anticipate and capture important moments without being intrusive or disruptive to the wedding day proceedings.

Summer reportage wedding photography

This August day was hot. Very hot. The temperature exceeded 86 °F. Therefore, the behaviour of the bride and groom and guests is completely understandable. Why? You have to watch my wedding reportage photography till the end. If you view the photos to the end, you’ll also understand why I plan to buy an underwater camera housing and a waterproof suit for the next summer wedding.

As I wrote in the description of another wedding on this website, I don’t get external stimuli during the shooting, and focused on reportage wedding photography. During Thomas and Roxanne’s wedding, some stimuli did. E.g. The Police’s song with the familiar title “Roxanne” arrived. The more I could hear it because the guests helped very much, Sting in his singing.

I also wrote about the fact that I tell my stories with pictures. But it turns out that I have to write a few words so that Google likes my images as well. So it’s a bit about the wedding I photographed, and it’s a bit about my work during that wedding.

How does my reportage wedding photography look?

It looks like the existing reality filtered through my lenses and how I perceive this reality. In fact, I should write: how are my wedding reportages created? What I see, I photograph. In a way, I also create this reality. For someone else may see something else or not see what I see.

At this point, we are touching on philosophy, and we start to wonder if photography actually represents reality. Or to what extent this reality was manipulated by the photographer while taking the photo and then editing it…

I just photograph and try to be invisible, but I don’t always succeed. (Probably because I’m not small.) I can take the most interesting photos when no one is paying attention to me. The best photos are taken when everyone is busy with themselves. Therefore, if I will photograph your wedding, forget about me, relax and enjoy this wonderful day.
